I’m an interdisciplinary social science graduate. Before I joined QTC Recruitment, I had always worked in the hospitality industry. They were student jobs and I either worked behind the bar or as a waitress. Thanks to my work experience in hospitality, I’ve become a good judge of character and that’s also valuable in recruiting. During my bachelor’s studies, I learned to handle topical discussions by looking at them from an interdisciplinary perspective. The interaction between people, culture and society is what interests me most. The knowledge I’ve gained in the different disciplines has turned me into a real problem solver.
I gained my first experiences in the Food Science industry and later on, I expanded this to the Biotechnology industry. At first, I thought recruitment was not for me, but after working here for a few months, I found that it’s much closer to my heart than I initially thought. The friends I’ve known for years and who already worked here initially brought me into contact with recruitment and selection and the company. I now realise that I’ve actually got a number of qualities that fit really well in the recruitment world! Such as empathy, communication skills and problem solving.
I work at QTC Recruitment because of the people. Working in an environment with young people and fresh perspectives is motivating and fun. I also like the fact that no two days are the same in recruitment. I’m always amazed by the number of people and customers I talk to on a daily basis; I like the fact that I learn something new every day.
To me, recruitment in Life Science means you play a role in improving the world by finding the right people and placing them with companies that often have innovative ideas for a sustainable world. Something that is of great importance in today’s society. To me, Creating Value in Life Science doesn’t mean making money, but contributing to a sustainable and innovative world, something that generates value.
Out of the four core values, integrity is what suits me best. The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles is what I value most. It’s a value I grew up with and bring to work every day. From a customer’s point of view, I feel this is reflected in open communication, something they care deeply about.
