Head of Membrane Protein Science - Brussels

For a young and innovative drug discovery company, we are looking for a Head of Membrane Protein Science. Since they span-off in 2015, they have developed themselves to a stable company of 30 people. Their unique technology allows the stabilisation of cell membrane receptors, screening for agonists that are pathway-selective and structural drug design.

Function

As Head, you will be leading all the protein science activities of the company, playing a pivotal role in the R&D activities and future success of this ambitious company. You will be leading a group of five biologists inside the drug discovery department, which is expected to grow further in the following years. In this position your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Responsibility over all protein science activities
• Decide on the approach of the research
• Envision new applications of the technology
• Present activities to the Senior Management
• Responsible for five direct reports
• Organise and align research activities inside the group

Requirements

For this position, you have the following qualifications:

• PhD in biochemistry or cell biology
• Five or more years of industry experience, working on membrane proteins
• Previous experience in leading a group
• Enthusiastic and proactive person, who likes to take on challenges

The following previous experience will be a plus:

• Cryogenic electron microscopy
• Due-diligence
