Job Purpose: As an integral part of the team, you will drive investment decisions through comprehensive research, detailed analysis, and insightful recommendations focused on sustainability and impact investment in Europe. Ideal for those passionate about high-tech start-ups and scale-ups in the Food and Agro industry, or those aspiring to venture capital and impact investing. Key Accountabilities: Market Analysis & Strategy Support • Conduct detailed analyses of investment opportunities, including market trends and financial statements. • Scout and recommend promising start-ups and scale-ups in agro and food science to the Investment Committee. • Develop and refine investment strategies with a sustainability focus. • Monitor economic, political, and market conditions affecting the portfolio. Reporting & Compliance • Prepare reports and presentations for the Investment Committee, highlighting opportunities and risks. • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. External Stakeholder Engagement • Manage relationships with consultants, advisors, and investment managers. • Directly interact with founders of start-ups and scale-ups. Industry Engagement & Networking • Network and participate in industry and Venture Capital events to stay updated on scientific trends. • Analyse the scientific and technical validity of investment opportunities. • Engage in the deal process, including due diligence, market analysis, and valuation. • Originate deals through interactions with scientists and potential target companies. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with investment teams and partners to source, analyse, and monitor investments in privately held companies (mainly venture capital). • Participate in all investment cycle phases: • Industry mapping and analysis. • Pre-investment analysis of target companies. • Deal structuring and negotiation support. • Performance and exit monitoring. • Presenting opportunities at investment committees. • Supporting portfolio management and strategy. • Liaise with stakeholders and external advisors.

What you bring


Required Qualifications:

 

Education & Work Experience
•    Master's in Biotechnology, Biology, Plant, Food Technology, AgroScience, Nutrition/Health, Microbiology, or equivalent field preferred.
•    PhD highly desirable, with 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience as an advantage.
•    Scientific background with a degree in economics or finance, or experience in life science investments, deal-making, consulting, or corporate venture arms preferred.

 

Skills & Knowledge
•    Deep interest in the Agro/Food industry.
•    Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel and financial modelling.
•    Advanced reporting and writing skills.
•    Fluency in English;
