19 OCT ’21: For AAK, an organisation specialised in plant-based oils that are the value-adding ingredients in many products, we are seeking a Junior Sales Manager. AAK makes these products tastier, healthier, and more sustainable. They enhance their sensory experience – by giving the silkier mouthfeel in premium chocolate, the juicier texture in a plant-based burger, and the puffier appearance in a lower-fat pastry. AAK also optimises its production by substituting existing ingredients with plant-based equivalents that give better efficiency.

About your role

This is how you will make the difference

The Junior Sales Manager will be responsible for the overall sales activities in the assigned country/industry segments (focus will be the Netherlands initially) in the food sector. You will be responsible for the translation and execution of the sales strategy in the respective country. This will be done in close cooperation with the Sales Director. In addition, this position is responsible for analysing the market data and competition to improve AAK’s market position. You will be based in Zaandijk, the Netherlands.

Essential position duties include but are not limited to:

  • Translate, set and execute the commercial strategy for the assigned country/region to further grow the overall market share and profitability
  • Independently analyse the market data and extrapolate into strategic steps
  • Collaborate closely with e.g. the Customer Innovation teams In-house/Customer Service sales team and Commercial Product Management to achieve the optimum sales results and customer satisfaction
  • Support and develop the business plan, which will meet both personal and business goals while expanding the customer base in the assigned country/region and industry segments
  • Prepare market reports i.e. on margin and volume targets according to the internal procedures
  • Build new customer relationships, while maintaining the existing customer base
  • Keep track and secure account agreements and contracts according to internal procedures
  • Signal and follow up timely on (production) issues by using your problem-solving skills
  • Play an active role in the Sales team in Western Europe and in the Go-to-Market teams you will be a part of
  • Achieve results through effective sales management and go to market sales strategies

What you bring

As a suitable candidate the following qualifications and experiences are expected:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in International Food Education – Food Innovation
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer relationship skills both virtual as in person
  • The ability to speak English and Dutch fluently and at least one other language (e.g. German, Spanish or French) would be an advantage
  • 1-3 years experience as Sales Manager in relevant industry
  • You are willing to travel
  • Food or Plant-Based Food Industry knowledge is seen as an asset
