For a young contract manufacturing organisation, we are looking for a Director Manufacturing. The company develops and manufactures specialised cell lines that support key research in drug discovery and development in labs all over the world. The company employs at the moment around 30 people but has a steep growth prospective since they are scaling up. They are looking for someone with experience in cell culture manufacturing and managing teams.


As the Director Manufacturing, you will be responsible for planning, assigning and overseeing the activities related to manufacturing technology and manufacturing operations. These are two different departments for which you are end responsible. The operations team consists out of seven persons who all directly report to you. The manufacturing consists out of six employees and a team leader who is also the only one who reports to you.

As there is people management involvement, you must be a proven leader with a hands-on attitude who is not afraid to lead by example. With your experience in managing teams and in cell manufacturing, you will show them the best practices in delivering results in the organisations key operational areas.


The following experience is required for the role:

  • MSc degree in biology, (bio)chemical engineering or similar in work experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. An advanced degree has the preference
  • At least seven years of experience in cell culture manufacturing
  • Experienced with commercial team management and skills, such as negotiation, influencing and conflict handeling
  • The ability to interact with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Known with the quality management systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and in speech
  • Willing to travel between the sites in Belgium and The Netherlands

  • A base salary between €80,000 and €85,000 including holiday allowance and 13th month
