For an innovative medical devices organisation, we are looking for a Material Manager for the new distribution centre in Venlo. Despite having a leading position in the surgical segment of the medical devices industry, this organisation is still privately owned and has a family culture. The mission of the company is to make the life of surgeons easier by developing innovative products and methods making the treatment of patients better and easier. They have over 1.000 different products which are sold all over the globe. Because the location in Venlo is relatively new, you will be managing a small team at first that will grow over the coming years. Next to that, there is room for initiative and creativity from your side to determine the course of the future.

Function

Objective of the position is helping surgeons treat patients better. Within this brand new distribution center, you will be responsible for receiving/shipment, warehousing, and global transport. Next to that, you will be ensuring compliance with work processes and guidelines from quality. Finally, you are responsible for the entire shipping logistics nationally and internationally in compliance with all customs and export law provisions as well as optimisation of freight costs/transit times

Tasks include:

  • Technical and disciplinary management and development of the employees in the materials department. (Ramp, receiving, warehouse and shipping/global transport)
  • Responsible for inventory management/warehouse inventory of the company with reporting
  • Training of department employees on subject-specific department contents
  • Ensuring compliance with existing processes, further developing the processes and introducing new processes including monitoring implementation
  • Creation of process and work instructions as well as monitoring of implementation
  • Ensuring smooth processes regarding the interfaces to other departments
  • Interface ‘materials’ to all other departments of the company
  • Creation, further development and implementation of new concepts to improve efficiency, cost savings and quality results.
  • Clarification of deviations occurring in the task area
  • Close cooperation with the purchasing departments regarding communication with suppliers and the distribution of goods
  • Participation in the selection and hiring of new employees
  • Reporting to Director Logistics as well as full support from the DL and in reaching the company goals

Requirements

    The ideal candidate profile looks as follows:

    • Several years of professional experience in logistics, preferably in an international company
    • Strong knowledge of customs and foreign trade law
    • Management experience required
    • A high degree of initiative and reliability
    • Understanding of business relationships
    • SAP knowledge in the modules MM and SD is desirable
    • Knowledge of processes in the entire logistics area
