This is a great opportunity for ambitious Operations Managers within clinical research who like to get their hands dirty and grow towards being the General Manager. The organisation is young, small, dynamic and rapidly growing, hence in need of the first Operations Manager who can strategically look at how to improve current processes and build for the future. They currently perform high quality medical research within the Netherlands and abroad, aiming to improve the lives of patients suffering from a range of chronic diseases. By collaborating with all relevant pharmaceutical stakeholders, they continually support quality healthcare and publish their research in highly esteemed international journals.


As the Operations Manager, you will lead and coordinate all operational aspects of the company, from legal, to HR, to finance and be the first point of contact. You will develop KPI’s, prepare the financial reports, assess contracts, negotiate with external partners and what is really going to set you up for growing towards General Manager: strategise. Currently, the organisation exists of around 20+ people whom are mostly researchers, operations exist of finance, a secretary and external HR and IT support. The founders are ready to let large parts go and focus on their passion, this is where you come in and take care of what they have build. How will you determine when one project needs more time, energy and priority than others? How will you decide what is good for the organisation, both from a research and a business perspective? The founders need to trust you with these decisions and together you will line out the future growth and all the steps in between.


In order to be successful in this position you need:

  • Minimal of three years operational management experience within medical/clinical research
  • A finished degree, preferably in the medical field
  • Understanding of the balance between life science and running a business
  • To be independent, assertive and confident to take action
  • Be able to negotiate and collaborate
  • To take strategic decisions and improve processes
  • To be transparent, honest and approachable
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
