For a biopharmaceutical scale-up company we are seeking an experienced Principal Scientist. This company is a joint collaboration of a specialised academic group and a world player in the microbiome field, resulting in the development of a cutting-edge technology platform. Their mission is the development and production of live biotherapeutic products to unlock the microbiome’s potential in combatting different disease indications. In this position, you will be a major contributor to the success of a clinical-stage, well-financed, fast-growing biotechnology company, and galvanise its worldwide leadership in microbiome research and development of therapeutic agents.

Function

As a Principal Scientist, you will be joining a team of microbiology discovery research, translate preclinical, and translational research to novel and differentiate products. You will be involved in discovering the unknown possibilities of bacteria in the gut. The responsibilities you will have as a Principal Scientist include;

Leading research efforts to meet the objectives determined in the assigned projects
Independently designing, developing, and implementing new in vitro assays to screen bacterial strains and study mechanisms underlying the efficacy of microbial interventions in the treatment of a variety of disorders
Identifying novel candidate product strains
Designing therapeutic bacterial consortia and the preclinical development of lead candidates
Analyse results and data and present it to relevant stakeholders

Requirements

You must have the following skillset/experience:

PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or closely related field
+2 years of experience as a postdoc and/or in relevant industry
Research experience in the microbiome field
Experiences in microbe-host interactions in the context of inflammatory diseases as well as bioinformatic skills is an advantage
Experience handling BSL-2 organisms and anaerobes
Experience with SOP development
