For a company that acts as a catalyst for technology and drug discovery programs, we are looking for a Project Lead Medicinal Chemistry. This organisation is active in acquiring external assets from academic and biotech groups, as to further develop the basic science into a concept that is valuable for patients. As Project Lead Medicinal Chemistry, you will be taking the lead in all chemistry aspects of such a discovery and development effort.


As Project Lead you will be part of the Medicinal Chemistry department, where you have a dedicated team of organic chemists and you will be reporting directly to the Head of Chemistry.

In this position you will be assigned discovery projects and together with a Biology Lead you will be expected to push the project successfully through the drug discovery/development pipeline. In these long terms project, you will be setting the full strategy for all chemistry related aspects (incl. IP, ADME, etc). You will make sure your chemistry team of 2 – 10 people executes it with a high level of scientific integrity. This position will give you the opportunity to develop yourself into the Medicinal Chemistry field, manage a small team and increase your project leadership skills. In all of this, you will be mentored directly by the Head of Chemistry, who has a strong track record in industry.


To be successful in this position, you will recognise yourself in the following skill-set:

  • PhD in Chemistry/Pharmacy or similar in experience
  • Strong experience in organic synthesis of small molecules
  • Previous experience in defining the Medicinal Chemistry strategy
  • You have 1+ year of experience in an industry setting or drug discovery institute
  • You are a strong communicator
  • You are a team player and have managerial capacities
