For an international, worldwide player which produces functional ingredients for the global food industry, we are looking for an R&D Manager. The organisation’s core activity is the constant search for new ways to fulfil the ever-changing requirements of their customers needs. Their aim is to supply their customers with innovative ingredients that possess the right functionality. A skilled development team and state-of-the-art production equipment facilitates the organisation to design and manufacture a variety of powdered ingredients for the bakery, savoury and beverage as well as ice cream and dessert segment.


In the function of R&D Manager, you will be responsible for driving innovation in terms of new product development, improving and monitoring the (new) product pipelines and process development, while leading the development and application team. You will work closely with sales and marketing to keep up with relevant developments in the market. You will act as a technical sparring partner for both internal as external expertise, by visiting customers for expertise related subjects. As the R&D Manager, you will be leading and participating in R&D projects to develop new and/or improve existing products, processes, shelf life and applications. You will set up, plan, execute and analyse experiments and report the results. Also, you will be involved in all stages of the process, from research and development stage to commercialisation of the new products. Over there, you will be supporting sales and marketing on product positioning and assessment/recommendation of impact of changes on product formula, performance and nutritional.


Are you that innovation driven, customer orientated R&D Manager we are looking for? Then you meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the food industry in product development/process engineering/quality
  • A minimum of two years of experience in product development which includes commercialisation of new products
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering or other Food related fields, preferably with a Master’s degree
  • Proven experience and trackrecord with product development, focused on functional ingredients (preferably dairy, edible oils/fats and/or savoury)
  • Fluent in English (both in speech and writing), German is a big plus
  • Willingness to commute between the site in Germany and the Netherlands on a regular basis
  • Positive attitude towards management and colleagues
  • Service oriented (internal and external)
  • Show initiative on new ideas on development or technology
  • Proactive knowledge transfer and documenting skills
  • Good time management skills
