For our client, a highly influential scientific organisation at the centre of Europe’s energy transition, we’re looking to recruit a Science Associate skilled in Life-cylce Assessment & Modelling to drive data-driven insights on fuels, transport systems and carbon intensity. This position is specifically interesting as you will operate at the intersection of science, policy and industry, directly influencing how low-carbon technologies are evaluated and deployed across Europe.

This is how you will make the difference

In this position, you will play a key role in shaping the analytical backbone behind the transition towards low-emission transport systems. You will contribute to high-impact modelling work and scientific evaluations that inform both industry and regulatory decision-making.
  • Develop and apply vehicle fleet and fuels modelling, including carbon intensity and economic assessments across conventional and alternative powertrains
  • Conduct Well-to-Wheels (WtW) and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to enable science-based comparisons between fuels and technologies
  • Evaluate the impact and scalability of low-carbon fuels and technologies (e.g. HEVs, PHEVs, BEVs) within real-world scenarios
  • Support the development and execution of technical research programmes in line with strategic priorities
  • Contribute to technical reports, publications and briefing papers used by industry stakeholders and policymakers
  • Collaborate with external consultants, research institutes and industry experts
  • Analyse complex datasets related to emissions, fuels and transport systems and translate these into clear insights
  • Actively contribute to cross-functional projects within fuels quality, emissions and broader energy transition topics

What you bring

You combine strong analytical capabilities with a genuine interest in the energy transition and its regulatory landscape. You are comfortable operating in a scientific environment where data, modelling and stakeholder interaction come together.
  • MSc or PhD in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Experience in LCA, Well-to-Wheels modelling or similar analytical frameworks
  • Strong data handling and modelling skills (e.g. Excel-based models and databases)
  • Understanding of fuels, transport systems or energy transition dynamics
  • Affinity with vehicle fleet modelling or willingness to deepen expertise in this area
  • Ability to translate complex analyses into clear, structured insights
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while contributing to a broader team
  • Interest in European policy and regulatory developments is a strong advantage
