For our client a pioneering microbiome-driven biotech with a strong clinical pipeline and proprietary gut simulation platforms, we’re looking to recruit a Scientific Computing Engineer to build and optimize end-to-end pipelines in the R&D gut microbiome setting. This position is specifically interesting as you will be part of a young yet strongly growing biotechnology organisation.

This is how you will make the difference

In this position, you will operate at the intersection of software engineering, DevOps and data science, enabling scalable and reproducible research within a highly data-intensive R&D environment. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening the computational backbone that supports omics analysis, bacterial genomics and translational microbiome research. Moreover, you will:
  • Develop and maintain HPC and cloud-based infrastructure for scientific applications
  • Design and implement automated CI/CD pipelines for research software and data workflows
  • Build and optimise robust data processing and analysis pipelines
  • Support knowledge extraction, querying and data visualisation tools for R&D teams
  • Improve performance, scalability and reproducibility of computational code
  • Ensure best practice version control, containerisation and environment management
  • Monitor system reliability, security and resource utilisation
  • Document workflows and provide technical training to internal stakeholders

What you bring

You combine strong programming expertise with DevOps capabilities and a solid understanding of data science in a research-driven setting. You are comfortable operating in multidisciplinary biotech teams and can translate scientific challenges into scalable technical solutions 
  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or related discipline
  • Proven experience supporting R&D teams, ideally in an industry environment
  • Strong programming skills in Python and R
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Git and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with HPC systems and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of data science, statistical modelling and machine learning
  • Affinity with biomedical, microbiology or omics-driven environments
