19 MAR '24: For our client, a strong biotechnology organisation, we are looking for a Business Developer. They license commercially validated premium technology for improved production of biologics to CDMOs and pharma and biotech companies developing proprietary products or biosimilars. Within the gene and cell therapy space, they provide technology for improved viral vector performance. They are active globally and have an international client base.

This is how you will make the difference

In your role, you will combine proven experience in a technical business development position covering the US market with a sound scientific background in the area of molecular or cell biology. Reporting to the VP of Business Development you will run your home office from which you will travel up to 25% annually within Europe and the US. Your responsibilities: Lead generation, identification and qualification of new prospects Negotiating and closing evaluation- and commercial-licensing deals Managing and retaining client relationships Support drafting, reviewing and negotiating licensing agreements Working with the R&D team members to ensure that client requirements are met Following industry trends, including competitor analyses Contributing to and maintaining the CRM system

What you bring

As the ideal candidate, you will recognise yourself in:

 

  • Business development track record of 5 -10 years and experience in negotiating complex deals to build partnerships;
  • Well-networked in the US-based pharma/biotech/CDMO/service provider industry;
  • Sound scientific background, preferably in molecular biology or cell biology;
  • Experience in the field of mammalian cell line development, protein production, biomanufacturing, or cell and gene therapy and viral vectors;
  • Ability to perform remotely, self-motivating and proactive;
  • Track record in business development involving out-licensing of technology;
  • Sound understanding of product development process for Biologics and Cell and Gene Therapy products;
  • Prior experience working within a small high-performance organisation or entrepreneurial environment.
