This is how you will make the difference

As Head of Chemistry you will be responsible for leading the discovery, design and synthesis of small molecules, conjugatable payloads and other constructs for novel applications. You will lead chemistry research, performed in house and at CROs while staying abreast of the latest developments in the fields of organic chemistry, bioorthogonal chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry, with a focus on ADCs, including linker-payload designs, other prodrugs and targeted radiotherapeutics. You will develop and maintain a network of subject matter experts (SMEs), collaborators and CROs. In coordination with other teams in you drive the development of compounds and conjugates for the company’s pipeline of ADCs, other prodrugs, and targeted radiotherapeutics, and contribute to their intellectual property. Additionally, you will develop and manage strategies, research plans, timelines and budgets and report results and recommendations to management and other stakeholders. On a daily basis you will lead a small and growing chemistry team and report to the CEO.

What you bring

Being the ideal candidate for the position you:

  • Bring 8+ years experience in design, synthesis and development of small molecules and/or small molecule conjugates in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment.

  • Have a PhD in (Organic) Chemistry or a related field and an up-to-date understanding of developments in organic chemistry and common organic chemical synthesis, purification, and characterization techniques. Experience in the fields of bioorthogonal chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry, ADCs or targeted radiotherapeutics is desirable.

  • Are experienced in managing a small team and overseeing outsourced work at CROs and SMEs.

  • Are a strategic and innovative thinker with a track record of developing creative approaches.

  • Have a demonstrated ability to develop research plans, set goals and priorities, and manage timelines and resources effectively.

  • Are an effective communicator and can successfully collaborate with multiple key stakeholders and project teams.
