Lead Biologist with ambitions to join newly established Biotech! Flindr Therapeutics is a pioneering early-stage biotech company focused on developing next-generation precision immune-oncology therapeutics. Leveraging our proprietary ImmunoGram Drug Discovery Engine, we aim to uncover novel targets in both cancer cells and immune cells. Our mission is to develop transformative treatments for cancer patients and their families, addressing unmet needs in precision oncology.   With strong scientific foundations from the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Oncode Institute, as well as strategic collaborations with the Vlaams Institute voor Biotechnologie (VIB) and world-renowned experts in immunology and cancer biology, Flindr is positioned for significant growth. Following our recent €20 million investment round, we are expanding our research team in Ghent to accelerate the development of our pipeline and advance our lead programme, RNF31.

This is how you will make the difference

Flindr is seeking an experienced Tumour Biologist to take on the role of Lead Biologist within their growing team. This is a key position that offers the opportunity to steer critical research projects and advance transformative oncology therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, extensive hands-on experience with tumour cell-based assays, and a proven ability to work with cutting-edge techniques like CRISPR-Cas9, small molecules, knock-in/knock-out technologies, T-cells, and primary cell systems. This individual will act as a pivotal scientific expert and will have the opportunity to fast-track their career, either towards translational sciences or as the second-in-command within Flindr’s research group. Key Responsibilities: - Lead Scientific Efforts: Drive the key research programme focused on tumour biology and the discovery of novel targets and therapeutics. - Assay Development: Design, execute, and optimise tumour killer assays, primary cell assays, and CRISPR-based screens for therapeutic validation. - Molecular Biology Expertise: Oversee knock-in/knock-out studies, small molecule testing, and in vitro modelling to support pipeline development. - Team Leadership: Mentor junior researchers, provide scientific guidance, and oversee project execution. - Collaboration: Work closely with the scientific founders, cross-functional teams, and external collaborators to integrate findings into actionable research strategies. - Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging trends in tumour biology, immunotherapy, and molecular research to enhance Flindr’s R&D approach.

What you bring

Who we are looking for: 
  • Education: PhD/Postdoctoral experience in Molecular Biology, Tumour Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in the Biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Proven experience with tumour killer assays, primary cell systems, and T-cell-based functional assays.
  • Expertise: familiar  with  CRISPR-Cas9 technology, knock-in/knock-out methodologies, and small molecule screening.Hands-on experience with in vitro assay development, including advanced cell culture
  • Track record of leading projects and an interest in mentoring.
  • Desire to grow into a senior leadership role within the research team.
