Scientist with a curiosity for Bioinformatics needed to join newly established Biotech! Our client Flindr Therapeutics is a pioneering early-stage biotech company focused on developing next-generation precision immune-oncology therapeutics. Leveraging their proprietary ImmunoGram Drug Discovery Engine, they aim to uncover novel targets in both cancer cells and immune cells. Their mission is to develop transformative treatments for cancer patients and their families, addressing unmet needs in precision oncology. With strong scientific foundations from the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Oncode Institute, as well as strategic collaborations with the Vlaams Institute voor Biotechnologie (VIB) and world-renowned experts in immunology and cancer biology, Flindr is positioned for significant growth. Following their recent €20 million investment round, they are expanding their research team in Ghent to accelerate the development of our pipeline and advance their lead programme, RNF31.

This is how you will make the difference

As a Scientist Bioinformatics, you will play a crucial role in the discovery and development of novel cancer therapeutics by conducting high-throughput tumour antigen and TCR screens, leveraging bioinformatics to analyse patient genomics and transcriptomics data, and integrating cutting-edge wet lab techniques. Your work will contribute to uncovering actionable targets and advancing Flindr’s pipeline of innovative precision oncology treatments. Your key Responsibilities: - High-Throughput Screening: Conduct unbiased CRISPR-Cas9-based genetic screens to identify tumour antigens and T-cell receptor (TCR) targets. - Data Analysis: Utilise external datasets and perform bioinformatics analyses of patient genomics and transcriptomics data using tools such as R. - Pipeline Development: Design and execute neoantigen pipelines and pathway-specific analyses to identify novel immune-oncology targets. - Wet Lab Contributions: Support wet lab experiments, including cell-based assays, to validate bioinformatics findings. - Collaborative Research: Work closely with Flindr’s scientific founders, external collaborators, and cross-functional teams to integrate data into actionable insights. - Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cancer biology, immunotherapy, and bioinformatics to inform project strategies.

What you bring

Who we are looking for:
  • Education: Master’s or PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Immunology, or a related field with a strong scientific foundation.
  • Experience: Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and scripting languages such as R or Python.
  • Expertise: Experience  in CRISPR-Cas9 screening and high-throughput genetic analyses is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with  neoantigen pipelines, tumour antigen identification, and TCR screening.
  • Lab skills: Basic exposure to wet lab techniques such as cell assays or molecular biology.
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication and project management skills. Strong commitment and accountability for completing projects in accordance with objectives. 
  • Language: High fluency in English  – Dutch is an asset
