“New people in an organisation always bring new perspectives. This was also the case with us when a new COO joined us. He saw the opportunity to centralise our HSE responsibilities for greater efficiency. Finding suitable candidates proved to be a challenge," shares Barbara Kint, Interim Recruiter at Remia C.V., as she explains how they successfully found an HSE manager in collaboration with QTC Recruitment.
Multiple candidates
“We had several HSE managers in different departments within our factory. To streamline this, we created the role of HSE Manager, which attracted many applicants. This consisted of two groups of candidates: recently graduated candidates with insufficient experience and candidates with extensive safety backgrounds, such as those from the fire brigade. Just not the right match with what was needed for the position.
Sparring session
Several recruitment agencies had now approached me to fill this role. Because the HR Manager and I had already had positive contact with consultants from QTC Recruitment in the past, we decided to approach them again. We set up a sparring session with the two consultants from QTC Recruitment, our COO and me. This laid the foundation for the consultant to look for the perfect match.
Valuable information
The consultant soon came back to me with information he received from the market. This was also my expectation from a specialised recruitment organisation. Given the competitive labour market, this allowed us to act proactively. He had spoken to several candidates and was able to clearly indicate the pluses and minuses of each candidate. In addition, he was good at discovering what expectations were in terms of salary, for example. This valuable information allowed us to align our expectations more effectively and those of the candidates.
An instant click
Several candidates came for an interview that the consultant provided to us. When our final match came to an initial meeting with the sauce factory manager and me, there was an immediate click. Not only in terms of skill set and experience but on a personal level, the factory manager and the candidate had shared hobbies. A personal assessment followed and a second interview with the COO and me. This was followed by a tour and an introduction to the margarine factory manager. I was also present at the last meeting with the Director. Everyone was on board.
That is quality
For me, what sets QTC Recruitment apart from other recruitment agencies is really the consultant and his qualities in maintaining good contact with both the candidate and with us, the client. He knew exactly where candidates stood in the process and was therefore able to adapt well. The fact that he kept the lines of communication short with both parties was very nice. Add to that his knowledge of the labour market: that is quality.”
